Midtown Juvaderm
The use of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers has gained popularity around the world, and in 2018 its market was valued at $3.4 billion. The market is projected to grow at a rate of 7.4 percent annually into the future. Hyaluronic acid dermal fillers are used in treating scars, acne, wrinkles, and augmenting lips, cheeks, and chin areas. They act by softening the fine lines of the skin, stimulating new collagen, and hydrating the skin.
The demand for flawless and youthful skin through noninvasive procedures is expected to drive the demand. Besides, the rise in medical tourism also underpins the growth of the market. By 2026, the market could be valued at $5.9 billion. At NSS Dermatology PLLC, we’re Midtown Juvaderm specialists.
What is Juvederm?
Juvederm refers to hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. In the Juvederm family, there are several products featuring different concentrations of hyaluronic acid. Each product is tailored for a specific problem, and they are injected into various depths and areas of the skin. All these products are used to address signs of aging on the face. The treatment can be used to correct moderate to severe cases.
Juvederm is smooth and gel-like in appearance and restores facial folds and wrinkles. Some treatments last for six months to one year, while others last for two to five years. Hyaluronic acid is a sugar compound occurring naturally in the body. Synthetic hyaluronic acid works by holding water when it’s injected and serves as a cushioning agent. In some instances, you may need more than one treatment to achieve the best results.
How Does Juvederm Work?
The active ingredient in Juvederm is hyaluronic acid that works by increasing the volume of the tissues in the areas they’re injected. Hyaluronic acid stimulates the production of connective tissues in your facial area and plumps your collagen. As you age, the production of collagen and natural hyaluronic acid decreases, and therefore your facial skin starts to sag and wrinkle.
Depending on the area to be treated, the whole procedure can take anywhere between 15 to 60 minutes. The injections have small amounts of lidocaine, a pain-reducing agent that minimizes any discomfort during treatment.
Is Juvederm Safe?
The FDA approved Juvaderm products in 2006. As with any other treatment, some patients may experience mild side effects such as swelling, redness, itching, bruising, lumpiness, or tenderness in the treated area. These side effects are temporary and usually last for a week or less.
If you've been diagnosed with a history of severe allergies, you should not use injectable Juvederm. Similarly, it should not be injected into blood vessels because it can lead to blockage, resulting in the death of tissues, stroke, or vision impairment. Moreover, it should only be administered by a licensed health practitioner.
